About the 3 Cabins
Our fully furnished cabins each sleep 2-4 people comfortably. They have a view on the lake and are within a short walk of each other on 42 acres of manicured lawns and gardens. Our cabins each have a fully stocked kitchen, private bath, private bedroom with a queen bed, a loft with a queen bed, and a pullout couch.

A Unique Vacation Close to Home
The Back 2 Basics premises are an excellent vacation destination for any time of the year and any day of the week, for couples, families, and groups alike! We are adjacent to the Shawnee National Forest and near to Giant City State Park, Little Grassy Lake, Devils Kitchen Recreation Area, and much more nature and wildlife. We are located along the Shawnee Wine Trail, minutes from top wineries and dining. You can attend our Academy workshops or fish our 2 ponds, go horseback riding, rock climbing, ride the Tunnel Hill Bike Trail, visit the Makanda Boardwalk, and more.
Back 2 Basics is only a short distance away from some of the most beautiful Vineyards/Wineries in Southern Illinois: a 6-minutes drive from Blue Sky Vineyard, a 10-minutes drive from Orlandini Vineyard, a 15-minutes drive from Starview Vineyard and a 17-minutes drive from Owl Creek Vineyard .
We are in Makanda, Illinois, just off Interstate 57, a half hour driving from Carbondale and SIU, and within 3.5 hours or less from St. Louis, Memphis, Paducah, Springfield, and Champaign.
